The Chaplain as Advocate.

Abstract

This is a nine chapter handbook designed to quickly familiarize chaplains with their roles and opportunities in advocacy actions within the Air Force. The role of the chaplain as advocate is discussed in detail in chapters 1-2. Chapters 3-7 describe the key questions chaplains face and the actions they must take when acting as advocates for counselees in five areas: clemency evaluations, conscientious objector interviews, humanitarian reassignment or determent requests, CHAP actions, and early return of dependents determinations. Key resources for chaplains both on and off base are listed in chapter 8, followed by conclusions in chapter 9. The table of contents and subject index facilitate the use of the handbook.
