Integrated Information Support System (IISS). Volume 4. IISS System. Part 2. System Design Specification.

Abstract

The integrated Information Support System is a test computing environment used to investigate and demonstrate and test the concepts of information management and information integration in the contexts of Aerospace Manufacturing. Specifically, IISS addresses the problems of integration of data resident on heterogeneous databases supported by heterogeneous computers, interconnected via a Local Are a Network. A common Data Model is maintained and provides the mechanism required to integrate the data. This technical report discusses the System Design Specifications of the ICAM Integrated Information Support System (IISS). The report allocates the functionality to five CPCI's the Network Transaction Management (NTM), the Common Data Model (CDM), the User Interface (UI), the Virtual Terminal Interface (VTI) and Communications Subsystems. Scenarios are presented to support the identification of the functional specifications of each subsystem.
