Elimination of Airborne Lead Contamination from Caliber .22 Ammunition.
Abstract
Many indoor firing ranges have been ordered closed due to high levels of toxic airborne lead contamination. The source of much of this contamination is the caliber .22 rimfire ammunition used for marksmanship training. This program proved the feasibility of a non-toxic caliber .22 rimfire cartridge.
