Comment on Paper by Yau and Chou Titled Notched Strength of Woven Fabric Composites with Molded-in Holes.

Abstract

A comment is offered on the Yau and Chou paper, presented at the Eighth ASTM Conference on Composite Materials: Testing and Design which discussed the failure strength of fabric composite plates with holes. Classical mechanics is used to describe the change in failure strength with hole size. Keywords: Composites, Isotropic mechanics, Stress concentration, Hole size.
