Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is to present the issues and considerations related to the development and implementation of a user interface for a microcomputer-based application program. The interface design goal is to enable a novice user to fully utilize all application program functions with prior training or reference to a user's manual. The results of the empirical evaluation of the user interface are presented together with analysis in support of the effectiveness of a proposed interface design methodology and interface design considerations. Keyword: Accounting; Computer program listings; Pascal programming language; IBM PC computers; User interface programs.
