Directly Measured Current Profiles in the East Australian Current.

Abstract

A number of direct measurement of current profiles in the East Australian Current are presented. They were obtained with profiling current meters from a drifting ship. The velocity shear in the current meter results is considerably larger than that calculated by the geostrophic method. Keywords: Oceanography, Fronts, Ocean currents, Remote sensing, Oceanographic data.
