Development of Seismic Signal Processing and Yield Estimation Techniques for Use at Regional to Teleseismic Distance.

Abstract

This report covers the final stage of research by our group under AFOSR/DARPA sponsorship. During this contract period our research effort changed from the processing of long period data to the operation of the Lajitas short period station and the analysis of data from that station. The first section of this report covers the use of phase matched filters in the analysis of Rayleigh waves from events at the Semipalatinsk test site in the USSR. The second section reviews the analysis of ambient seismic background noise at the very quiet Lajitas station and a study of the magnitudes of signals recorded at Lajitas during our participation in the GSETT experiment during the last three months of 1985.
