Characteristics of Planar Optical Waveguides Fabricated by Sodium-Silver Ion Exchange.

Abstract

Experimental optical waveguides were produced by ion diffusion from an AgN03/NaN03 solution at 300 deg C. By careful measurement diffusion time, mode number data was developed, which will be useful in the construction of tapered optical waveguide matching sections. These matching sections will be used between laser diode sources and optical modulators. (Author).
