Managing Underground Storage Tank Data Using dBASE III PLUS.

Abstract

The Department of the Army owns approximately 10,000 underground storage tanks (USTs), many of which are old and may be leaking. Under Public Law 94-580, the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act of 1976, Section 9002, installations owning tanks were required to collect and report data on them by May 1986. USA-CERL has created data based structures, using the dBASE III PLUS software package and microcomputer, which allow this data to be stored, organized, and manipulated. One of the outputs is a Leak Potential Index, to prioritize USTs in order of potential for leakage. This report documents the data bases that were developed. In addition, an appendix provides a short introduction to dBASE III PLUS for the novice user. Keywords: Management information systems, Data management.
