International CECAM Workshop on Intramolecular Vibrational Redistribution and Quantum Chaos Held in Rochester, New York on October 3-5, 1985.

Abstract

With the purposes 1) to review critically the current status of experimental and theoretical studies of highly vibrationally activated molecules and molecular clusters; 2) to discuss the ranges of applicability of the classical, quantum and semiclassical methods currently employed in the calculations of intramolecular relaxations and spectral lineshapes; 3) to compare various criteria used to characterize either classical or quantum chaos and to discuss their relevance to intramolecular dynamics; 4) to examien the available information on distributions of energy levels and other statistical measures of molecular spectra and to explore their relevance to intramolecular dynamics and quantum chaos 5) to allow theorists and experimentalists a free exchange of information and ideas to discuss future directions. Keywords: Quantum choas; Molecular lineshapes chemical dynamics; Vibrational relaxation; Symposia.
