Simulation Trainers for Tank Gunnery.

Abstract

This report describes an evaluation of five developmental tank gunnery simulations for use by the Army reserve components. Although the devices are evaluated for use by the Army Guard and Reserve, they are logical candidates for use by the Active Army as well. The evaluation is an assessment of the utility, in terms of the number of tasks trained, and the expected unit cost of each simulator relative to the others. The measure of merit is cost-per-task-trained, where tasks are weighed in importance for several types of engagements. Differences in training level (basic, intermediate, and advanced) and in design emphasis may make a pair of simulators appear to be complements more than competitors.
