Survey of the East Coast Air Combat Maneuvering Range.

Abstract

This survey was performed to accurately establish the locations of the four Air Combat Maneuvering Range (ACMR) platforms constructed by Brown & Root, Inc. in the Atlantic Ocean offshore of Kitty Hawk, N.C. during the summer of 1977. Prior to performing the ACMR tower location survey onshore control points with sufficient elevation for the long shots to the offshore sites had to be located. It was found that the U.S.C. and G monuments Wright located atop the Wright Memorial Monument at elevation 144 ft. and Bodie Island Lighthouse at elevation 156 ft. met the criteria for elevation.
