Real-Time Acquisition and Processing System (RTAPS) Version 1.1 Installation and User's Manual.
Abstract
The Real-Time Acquisition and Processing System (RTAPS) is a hardware/software system designed to provide data acquisition, storage, real-time processing, and graphic display of sensor data (physical, chemical, and biological) and navigation/position information for the Marine Environmental Survey Capability (MESC). MESC is a flexible, modularized system developed by the Marine Environment Branch of Naval Ocean Systems Center (NOSC) to provide rapid continuous measurement and mapping of environmental parameters in estuarine and marine environments. RTAPS uses off-the-shelf acquisition and processing equipment programmed exclusively in procedural, high-level language. An integrated, modular hardware/software system is employed that uses one processor for acquiring data from a large variety of sensors and broadcasting the data to one or more microcomputers for storage and subsequent processing and display.
