Human Conflict Resolution.

Abstract

A conflict resolver is developed for mediating disputes arising among competing expert systems. The conflict resolver constitutes the key component of an overall decision support system designed for operating and controlling a complex system. When competing expert systems make conflicting recommendations for the control of the system, the conflict resolver follows a Delphi-like approach in mediation to arrive at a compromise solution. Besides defining the mathematical framework for the comprehensive conflict resolver, it is proven rigorously that the conflict resolver always reaches a consistent recommendation. Keywords: Conflict resolution, Artificial intelligence, Decision support, Methodology, Expert systems, Knowledge based systems, Cooperating expert systems.
