Command of a Divisional Direct Support Field Artillery Battallion in USAREUR: A Philosophy.

Abstract

A philosophy of command is difficult to codify and is best explained through an examination of certain techniques which were employed during a command tour. Maintenance of standards, personnel management, maintenance and logistics, training, relationships with supervisors, officership, taking care of people, safety, social life and leadership are all essential elements to consider when formulating a command philosophy which can be applied at various levels. While differing philosophies may produce different results, proper handling of the essential elements will produce success in units. (Author)
