Boredom: Construct, Causes and Consequences

Abstract

The literature on cause of work and life boredom is reviewed. A qualitative study of causes of boredom on and off the job is presented, and a typology of causes is developed. Problems of measuring both experienced boredom and the boredom potential of situations are discussed, followed by suggestions for future research.
