A Pressure Gradient Algorithm to Maintain a Statistically Steady State Turbulent Channel Flow.

Abstract

An algorithm is presented for the computation of streamwise pressure gradient for use in the computation of turbulent channel flow using the full incompressible Navier-Stokes equations of motion. The algorithm is fully hands off, no assumptions or constants are employed. Forces balance exactly throughout the calculations. Results are presented which show that a statistically steady turbulent state is reached and maintained using this algorithm. Keywords: Turbulent; Channel flow; Incompressible; Steady state; Pressure gradient.
