Memory Base Expert System.

Abstract

This project dealt with research on computer learning and reasoning. Work dealt with three separate projects: (1) legal reasoning, (2) economic reasoning, and (3) explanation and understanding. On the first, a system was designed to implement case-based reasoning, which deals with empirical learning from the process of producing relative assessments of input situations with respect of several concerns , with little external feedback. In the second, patterns of words and concepts guide a general memory search process towards relevant memory structures. One third effort deals with programs that produce novel explanation by retrieving old explanations and modifying them to fit new situations. Two papers and five books resulted from this research, as well as two Ph.D. dissertations.
