A Finite Element Expert System; an Initial Study and Prototype Program.

Abstract

The report represents an initial study into the possibility of using Expert System concepts to aid users of finite element analysis systems. By concentrating on limited aspects of the problem a Lisp based prototype consult program has been constructed. This clearly demonstrates the advantages of adopting an Object Oriented approach in this area. The report suggest how this initial work may be further exploited to create a full scale expert system. Keywords: Artificial intelligence; Computer programming; Structural analysis; Great Britain.
