Instrumentation and Communication Systems for Sounding Rockets and Shuttle-Borne Experiments.

Abstract

This report deals with analysis, developmenmt and field support of instrumentation and telemetry systems for airborne vehicles. The BERT, ERNIE, EXCEDE and BEAR programs discussed require instrumentation and telemetry which operate under the adverse EMI environments created by electron guns, ion sources or particle beams. The PIIE and POLAR ARC vehicles described low-modulation-index FM/FM systems. Signal processing, data formatting, encoding, tape recorders and packet telemetry are described for future shuttle flights under the GAS, VIPER and IMPS programs. (Author)
