Abstract

This report is divided into two sections. The first section is a narrative summary of the research completed under this contract. It describes the general background to out work on confidence and outlines the strategy used in this research program. In addition to describing the characteristics of a good probability assessor, it gives an overview of the quality of people's performance as probability assessors and offers an interpretation of our research results that may be useful in improving the appropriateness of confidence judgements. The second part of this report is a compendium of the technical reports and archival publications produced under this contract. Each report is listed according to author, title and technical report reference. Archival references are provided where appropriate. Included with each technical report reference is an executive summary of the body of the report.
