Long-Range Planning for ARI (Army Research Institute): A Metaplan

Abstract

This report presents an analysis of long-range planning for the Army Research Institute (ARI) and provides a detailed plan for incorporating such planning into the ARI management process. Long-range planning is viewed as a continuing management process that brings an orientation toward the future to bear on decisions relevant to choices among research directions and resource support for them. The plan to incorporate long-range planning anticipates the participation of top management in the development of alternatives and selection among them.
