Framework for Comparative Risk Analysis of Dredged Material Disposal Options.

Abstract

This report was prepared as part of the Evaluation Procedures component of the Puget Sound Dredged Disposal Analysis (PSDDA). The main objective of PSDDA is to provide an environmentally and publicly acceptable management plan for the disposal of dredged material at unconfined sites in Puget Sound. A major feature of the Evaluation Procedures component of PSSDA is to compare the relative risks associated with different disposal options. To this end, the task represented by this report has four objectives: Develop a risk analysis framework for evaluating dredged material disposal options. Develop a hypothetical example of a comparative risk analysis. Develop an example exposure assessment. Develop guidelines for acceptable concentrations of chemical contaminants in marine organisms.
