Characterization of the Microstructures of Various Materials.

Abstract

Characterization research was conducted on Ti-, A1-, and Mg-base alloys and nonmetallic polymers using electron-optical and light optical methods, including transmission, scanning transmission and scanning electron microscopy, electron microprobe, interference layer microscopy, and various light optical methods. Rapid solidification research was done on Ti-, A1-, and Mg-base alloys using pendant-drop-melt-extraction, melt-spinning, and splat cooling methods. Apparatus to produce the alloys was constructed.
