WIS (WWMCCS (World Wide Military Command and Control System) Information System) Ada (Trade Name) Translator Testing.

Abstract

The purpose of this IDA Memorandum Report is to forward data developed in the course of acceptance testing on the FORTRAN and COBOL to Ada translators constructed for the WIS JPMO. The major objective in the WWMCCS translator project is to develop a set of production quality translation tools. These tools are to provide 100% automated translation into MIL-STD-1815A Ada of the legal, standard features of one dialect each of FORTRAN 66 and COBOL 68 common to WWMCCS ADP software. Ada is the language to be used in constructing WIS to enhance software component portability and to increase machine independence. By reusing WWMCCS ADP software through translation to Ada, the costs to redesign and re-engineer portions of the joint mission software will be deferred.
