Deformation Effects on Microwave Reflectivity

Abstract

An investigation has been made into the coupling between mechanical effects and electromagnetic response for dielectric materials. Measurements of reflectivity on panels which were subject to tensile stresses were made over a broad range of microwave frequencies. Results indicated that the change in reflectivity exceeded that expected from geometric changes alone. These results are discussed within the context of a coupled mechanical-electromagnetic theory. Keywords include: Deformation, Reflectivity, and Anisotropic.
