Doppler Shift Methods for Plasma Diagnostics,

Abstract

Work to develop novel advanced laser spectroscopy plasma diagnostic methods is described. The methods are based on observing the doppler shift in the absorption liners of ionic species. Two methods under study are Velocity Modulated Laser Spectroscopy and Two Beam Doppler Shift Laser Spectroscopy. The theoretical basis of the methods is described and preliminary experimental results presented. Keywords: Laser diagnostics, Plasmas, Laser induced fluorescence, Doppler shift spectroscopy.
