Development of FTMS Methods for the Detection of Trace Chemical Species and Development of FTMS Methods for the Analysis of Various Chemical Species.

Abstract

The techniques of Fourier Transform Ion Cyclotron Resonance (FTICR) Mass Spectrometry have been developed and extended to the analysis of various chemical species, including organometallics and energetic materials such as nitramines. Laser photodissociation has been shown valuable in differentiating isomeric ion structures, and laser desorption has been demonstrated to be a useful tool in the formation of ions from both large organic and bio-molecules and metal clusters. Keywords: Fourier transforms, Ion cyclotron resonance, Mass spectrometry, Chemical analysis, Laser photodissociation, Cluster ions.
