Organizational Assessment of the Depot Level Analysis Center for the Lockheed S-3 Viking Aircraft.

Abstract

An effective management information system is critical to the successful operation of any organization. In the large, complex organization of the Naval Air Rework Facility, the operation of such a system is a complex and demanding task. THe data analysis center for the Lockheed S-3 Viking aircraft is a key component in the management information system of NARF Alameda, California. For the center to be effective, its organizational design must facilitate its operation. This study examines the U>S> Navy directives governing the operation of such a center, organizational theory as it applies to the design of such an operation, and a comparative analysis of similar systems in operation.
