Navy Bone Marrow Donor Program Contract.

Abstract

As of September 15, 1987, 1,971 potential donors have signed consent forms and joined the Puget Sound Blood Center Bone Marrow Donor Program. Of these, 305 are family members of former bone marrow transplant patients, 274 were recruited from the pheresis program and 1,392 were recruited from our regular blood donors. We anticipate that further growth in the program will be from amongst the blood donors. The majority of the blood donors to date have come from our Central fixed blood donation facility. There are three other facilities that we have just begun to utilize. We anticipate that we have approached only 10% of our total blood donor population including those who donate at mobile units.
