Statistical Quality Control of Engineered Embankments.

Abstract

This report introduces practical concepts, definitions, and techniques of statistical quality control for geotechnical engineering, with particular attention to compaction control of engineered embankments. The report briefly covers applicable fundamentals of statistical theory, followed by more specific coverage of (a) sampling theory, (b) quality control charts, and (c) acceptance sampling. Construction data from new data projects are used to illustrate the methods discussed. The report is intended for practical use and presumes no prior familiarity with statistical theory. Keywords: Earth dam embankments.
