Stress Analysis of M549 and PXR Projectiles.

Abstract

A finite element analysis of the M549 and PXR projectiles was performed to determine the possible causes of unexpected gun tube deformations. Also investigated was the feasibility of adding a scoop to the front of each projectile. Keywords: Finite element analysis; Projectile design analysis; Projectile stresses; Projectile deformation.
