High-Molecular Compounds (Selected Articles).

Abstract

Studies has recently appeared in the literature concerning the synthesis of poly-2,6-benzothiazoles (PBT) at high temperatures in a solvent. Aromatic PBT exhibit exceptionally good resistance to heat and chemicals but cannot be dissolved in any of the organic solvents. The object of the present study was to synthesis PBT in two stages, attempting in the first stage to obtain noncyclized polymers which would be soluble in organic solvents and to produce a number of new polymers.
