Electrical/Pneudraulic Design Considerations.

Abstract

This research examines ways that the reliability and maintainability of aircraft electrical and pneudraulic components and systems could be improved. To accomplish this task two R&M databanks for the components under review were researched. Added to this information were the opinions of electrical and pneudraulic aircraft maintenance technicians from two organizations. The results of the document reviews and interviews were a list of specific problem areas and suggested corrective actions for each. These problem areas were then categorized into general recommendations to improve the reliability, maintainability, and subset of maintainability, accessibility of the electrical and pneudraulic systems. This thesis should be looked at a management document providing general guidelines for designing aircraft electrical and pneudraulic systems. As these systems are functionally similar to other aircraft systems, such as fuel, propulsion, and environmental systems, the recommendations put forth may also apply to these systems.
