Military Handbook: Design, Construction, and Testing Requirements for One of a Kind Space Equipment. Attachment 1.

Abstract

Section 1, scope , states the purpose of this handbook. Section 2 is the list of documents referenced in the text of the handbook. Section 3 presents definitions for various classes of space programs and equipment, as well as the definitions for the various levels of assembly terms used. Section 4 presents a series of tables comparing typical attributes of the various classes to provide a summary overview that may be helpful. Tables I, II, and III are matrices of some of the baseline program or management related items that may be used by the government in definitizing the Statement of Work or other contract provisions for various classes of programs. In contrast, Tables IV through IX are matrices that summarizes the technical requirements presented in detail in Sections 5 through 10 of this handbook for various classes of vehicles or experiments. Section 5 addresses equipment characteristics, Section 6 general design requirements , Section 7 requirements for computer resources. Section 8 manufacturing requirements, Section 9 storage and handling requirements, and Section 10 addresses quality assurance provisions. Section 11, Notes, provides guidance information on tailoring of requirements and on the classification process.
