Preparation and Characterization of Ba2YCu3O7.01(2).

Abstract

Sample of Ba2YCu3O7 were prepared both by ceramic techniques using BaCO3, Y2O3, and CuO as well as by the decomposition of the corresponding nitrates. The preparations by each method are discussed and compared. In addition, the chemical instability of the pure phase Ba2YCu3O7 in moist air is discussed. MATERIALS INDEX: Stoichiometry, Superconducting transition, Stability.
