1,2,3-Triaminoguanidinium Nitrate: An Alternate Explanation of the Nitrate Anion Disorder.
Abstract
The molecular structure of triaminoguanidinium nitrate was redetermined on the basis of a positionally disordered nitrate ion model and compared with results from the model that assumes dynamic rigid-body motion in the nitrate ion. It was concluded that at room temperature the nitrate ion is undergoing rigid-body motion. It was also recommended that a low temperature structure determination be carried out in conjunction with thermal in order to fully characterize nitrate ion motion-disorder. Keywords: Triaminoguanidinium nitrate, Rigid-body motion, Nitrate ion, X ray diffraction.
