Time-Dependent Slow-Time-Scale Theory of Free-Running and Phase-Locked Gyrotron Oscillators.

Abstract

A time dependent slow time scale theory is developed for the analysis of high power, pulsed gyrotrons. Calculations are carried out to simulate the operation of a 35 GHz hig voltage gyrotron. Both free running and phase locked oscillator configurations are examined, and the effect of a voltage ripple is shown. Keywords: High power; Phase locked gyrotron oscillators; Intense relativistic electron beams; Pulse line accelerator; Interacting modes; Short pulse length; Voltage risetime.
