Investigation of Waveform Distortion in Mobile Electric Power Systems.

Abstract

Ten DOD power generator systems were tested by Belvoir RD&E Center's Systems Assessment Team to determine power distortion presence and to demonstrate the electrical conditions that exist with these systems under normal field conditions. Testing responded to Inspector General's Report on the Survey of Acquisition of Mobile Electrical Generators and Related Equipment dated Feb 86. Tests determined representative levels of waveform distortion experienced under typical field operation conditions. Based on test results, the present generator set specifications for waveform requirements are adequate to ensure satisfactory system operations.
