Hydraulic Diagnostics and Fault Isolation Test Program.

Abstract

The hydraulic diagnostic and fault isolation test program investigated the feasibility of detecting and isolating a hydraulic failure in order to prevent loss of the entire system. Isolation valves were installed as a means of separating the subsystems from the main system. Various sensors were used to detect change in flow, temperature, pressure and reservoir level. The sensor information was fed to a microprocessor which compared the information to known parameters. In the event of failure detection, a signal was transmitted to the appropriate subsystem isolation valve which then shut off the subsystem from the main system.
