Installation Restoration Program. Records Search 8204th Field Training Site, Wisconsin Air National Guard, Volk Field Air National Guard Base, Camp Douglas, Wisconsin.

Abstract

The identification of hazardous material disposal sites at Air Force installations was directed by DEQPPM 81-5 dated 11 December 1981, and implemented by an Air Force message dated 21 January 1982, as a positive action to ensure compliance of Air Force installations with existing environmental regulations. The purpose of the Phase I Records Search is to identify and evaluate suspected problems associated with past hazardous materials handling procedures, disposal sites, and spill sites on DOD facilities. The existence and potential for migration of hazardous material contaminants was evaluated at Volk Field ANG Base by reviewing existing environmental information, analyzing installation records, and conducting interviews with past and present employees at Volk Field ANG Base. Pertinent information includes the history of operations, with special emphasis on past hazardous materials management procedures; the geological and hydrogeological conditions that may facilitate migration of the suspected contaminants; and the ecological settings that indicate environmentally sensitive habitats or evidence of environmental stress.
