Determination of Aquo-Complexes of Chromium and Iron in Chromium Plating and Polishing Solutions by Ion Chromatography.

Abstract

Aquo-complexes of chromium and iron in chromium plating and polishing solutions of individual concentration levels above 7.5 g/l results in a poor quality plate condition. An ion chromatographic procedure utilizing UV-visible and atomic absorption detection for determining 0.20 g/l concentration levels of these aquo-complexes is described. Since no derivatizations are necessary, matrix effects are much less common compared to previous chromatographic methods. The relative standard deviation is about two percent and sensitivity is about 1 ppm for these determinations.
