Knowledge Delivery Research.

Abstract

The goal of knowledge delivery research is to create a technology of authorship by computer. Existing technology is all in the laboratory stage, and is limited to very small, rigidly constrained texts. This research project has focused on two kinds of developments intended to overcome theses limits: 1) expanding the notation and practices of knowledge representation so that a wider range of knowledge can be rendered in natural language, and 2) creating a theory of text structure that is suitable as a basis for writing programs that design texts. These goals are being pursued using the methods of Artificial Intelligence, with heavy input from Linguistics. Keywords: Computational linguistics.
