Rigidity and Smoothness of Motion.

Abstract

Many theories of structure from motion divide the process into two parts which are solved using different assumptions. Smoothness of the velocity field is often assumed to solve the motion correspondence problem and then rigidity is typically used to recover the 3D structure. We prove results showing that, in a statistical sense, smoothness of the velocity field follows from rigidity of the motion. Keywords: Aperture problem, Rigidity, Smoothness.
