Preparation of a Fentanyl Ligand for the Opiate Receptor.

Abstract

The objective of this task was to prepare radiolabeled nd nonradiolabeled photo-affinity label fentanyl derivative, propanamide. The compound was prepared for use by the U.S. Army in the study of opiate receptors. Several grams of the nonlabeled and a few micrograms of the radio-labeled analog were synthesized. The route of the synthesis was first worked out using nonradiolabeled compounds. The addition of the radiolabel ws incorporated as the final step in the synthesis. Alternate purification methods need to be considered for optimization of the yield of pure radiolabeled product. Keywords: Synthesis(Chemistry), Radiolabeled substances, Photoaffinity label, Organic synthesis, Opiate receptor ligand.
