Abstract
The purpose of this handbook is to enhance the understanding of base-level construction contracting personnel in the basic fundamentals of construction. This handbook was developed to help contract administrators better understand and be acquainted with the basic technical aspects of construction. It is meant to provide technical information and references to aid non-technical personnel in the performance of their duties. The information contained in this handbook was based on authoritative sources in the construction industry, contributions from construction contracting personnel at the major Air Force commands, as well as the personal experience the author gained from working on several Air Force construction projects in the past as a general contractor. Subjects addressed are: Basic Terminology and Abbreviations, Basic Construction Mathematics, Basic Blueprint Reading; Cost Estimating; Scheduling; Contract Documents; Contract Administration; Computer Applications.
