Book Analysis of Arms and Insecurity in the Persian Gulf.

Abstract

This report analyzes John Muttam's book, 'Arms and Insecurity in the Persian Gulf'. Muttam seeks to support his theory that an arms race in the Persian Gulf Area is hurting the Gulf states by causing unstable conditions and helping only the superpowers, who are selfishly using the Gulf states to improve their own positions. However, the author has determined Muttam's theory is not supported by other authors who have studied the issue. The author cannot recommend this book to the serious student of issues of the middle east.
