An Electrochemical and Spectroelectrochemical Study of Substituted Alkylidene Cyclopropabenzenes: 1-(Diphenylmethylene)Cyclopropabenzene in the First Anodic and Cathodic Voltammetric Waves in Acetonitrile.

Abstract

Electrochemical and modulated specular reflectance spectroelectrochemical (MSRS) investigations were performed on 1-(diphenylmethylene) cyclopropabenzene in nominally dry acetonitrile solution. The results indicate the formation of a stable anion radical (lambda max = 587nm) and a quasi stable cation radical (lambda max = 473nm). The first order homogeneous rate constant for the decay of the cation radical was computed. Keywords: Spectroelectrochemistry.
