Pharmacologic Studies on the In Vitro Bronchodilating Vasoactive Actions of Oligo-PGB (Prostaglandin B)

Abstract

Oligomeric mixtures of prostaglandin B1 (O-PGB) relaxes airways of guinea pig when studied in vitro. Bronchi with the epithelium preserved or removed were exposed to contractile agent for 20 minutes either in presence or in absence of indomethacin .000005 M. O-PGB was added at .000001 and .00001 M when present, and the results were defined in terms of percent of maximum relaxation induced by papaverine .001 M. Substance P (SP) 3 x 10 to the -8th M, leukotriene D4 (LTD4) 1 x 10 to the -9th M and carbachol 1 x 10 to the -8th M induced similar contractions. Keywords: Oligo-PGB, Bronchodilatation, Hypersensitive response.
