Host Computer System Capacity Management Procedures.

Abstract

The Federal Aviation Administration's Advanced Automation Program Office has recognized the need for monitoring and assessing the National Airspace System's operational performance and for long term planning during the life-cycle of the Host Computer System. The assessment of the operational performance involved the acquisition and analysis of field measurement data, while the long-term capacity planning entails execution of a Host Computer System analytical model using current and project traffic and other system loads. The procedures document defines the activities to be executed in: (1) measuring and monitoring operational performance, (2) measuring projecting system workloads, (3) predicting system performance using an analytical performance model, and (4) analyzing and reporting current and predicted future performance of the Host Computer System.
